LoneStar Siberians
Siberian Forest Cat Breeder San Antonio, TX
COMMON QUESTIONS
Are Siberian cats hypoallergenic?
There are small variations within the breed, but most Siberians cause little or no allergic reactions. Our breeding cats have tested low for feline allergen levels. As a breed, Siberians usually cause lower allergic response than other cat breeds, but the levels vary by kitten. If you are allergic to cats feel free to contact us for more details.
Why choose a small home cattery?
Cats imprint between two and eight weeks of age. During this period they need considerable daily physical contact with people to become affectionate pets and to lose their natural fears. Many cage-raised kittens lack interaction with people, and have unpredictable behaviors. We spend alot of time handling and talking to our kittens and give them all the love and affection they can handle until you adopt.
Can kittens be shipped?
We prefer kittens are picked up at the cattery if possible. I can meet for a mileage fee at my discrection.
What is your health guarantee?
We have selected our breeding cats from lines with low genetic health risks. Our cattery is free from FIP, FelV and other contagious diseases. Kittens are sold with a one-year warranty against genetic and congenital disorders.
Are the kittens registered?
Kittens will be registered with TICA or CFA. Formal papers for pet kittens will be held until contractual neutering requirements are met.
When are kittens neutered?
Studies on early neuter/spay are very comprehensive and show there are no real adverse effects. In allergic homes, we recommend neutering males at three to four months and spaying females by five or six months. Formal registration papers for pet kittens will be held until contractual neutering requirements are met.
How are males and females different?
Adult female Siberians are smaller than males, averaging 9 to 14 lbs while adult males weigh 12-18 lbs, all siberians are slow growers taking about 5 years to fully mature.
There is little difference in behavior or affection between neutered males and females.
Once neutered males make wonderful companions and do not spray.
Altered males have similar allergen levels to females.
